2009 Summer Session Dates & Deadlines

TERM I, May 26 - June 26

REGISTRATION PERIOD
From March 9th through May 28th you may register for Term I courses online using the BU Brain registration system.
ADD DEADLINE FOR TERM I
Thursday, May 28th, is the last day to add courses for Term I. Beginning May 29th, an approved “Late Add Petition” must be completed and a $20 late add fee per course will be charged and posted to your account.
DROP DEADLINE FOR TERM I
Thursday, May 28th, is the last day that students may drop a course for Term I without having a grade recorded on their Binghamton University transcript.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD FOR TERM I
Between May 29th and June 15th, students who successfully withdraw from a course will receive a grade of “W” on their transcript. Beginning June 16th, an approved “Late Course Withdraw” petition must be submitted and a $20 late withdrawal fee per course will be charged and posted to your account. June 15th is also the last day that a student can change his or her grading option for a Term I course.

REGISTRATION PERIOD
From March 9th to July 9th you may register for Term II Courses via the BU Brain registration system.
ADD DEADLINE FOR TERM II
Thursday, July 9th, is the last day to add courses for Term II. Beginning July 10th, an approved “Late Add Petition” must be completed and a $20 late add fee per course will be charged and posted to your account.
DROP DEADLINE FOR TERM II
Thursday, July 9th, is the last day that students may drop a course for Term II without having a grade recorded on their Binghamton University transcript.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD FOR TERM II
Between July 10th and July 24th, students who successfully withdraw from a course will receive a grade of “W” on their transcript. Beginning July 10th, an approved “Late Course Withdraw” petition must be submitted and a $20 late withdrawal fee per course will be charged and posted to your account. July 24th is also the last day that a student can change his or her grading option for a Term II course.

Term III courses are courses that do not fall within the parameters of Term I or Term II.

The following are considered Term III courses:

Thesis and independent study courses are classified as Term III courses.

Add/Drop deadlines and withdrawal periods for Term III courses will be adjusted based on the actual length of the course.
